NCAA Football Cover Vote Narrows To 16[news]

It's become a tradition in pretty much every EA sports title not named Tiger Woods to feature a fan vote for the cover athlete. Now, due to NCAA bylaws you can't vote for a specific athlete for NCAA Football but you can still vote for your favorite team that you want plastered all over the ad campaign. While the release of this years game is still months away, voting has already kicked off and the field has been narrowed to a sweet 16 (if only college football had a 16-team playoff!).

Sorry cool schools like Boise State and Bowling Green, you didn't make the cut into the final group. Your eternal shafting at the hands of the big boys extends into marketing as well. Instead also-rans like Navy and Tennessee get by on name and tradition alone to take up spots next to expected powerhouses like Alabama, Texas and LSU.

Although the choices have been narrowed and your beloved alma mater may have already been eliminated you can still do your part to make sure Alabama doesn't win this thing too (the Crimson Tide are the current leaders) and we crown our own national champion. You can head on over to the NCAA Football Facebook page and cast your vote now and let your voice be heard.

Right now the top 16 (in what I THINK is the current vote order) looks like:

3. Michigan
4. Ohio State
5. Oregon
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. Georgia
9. Navy
10. Wisconsin
11. Florida State
12. Florida
13. Tennessee
14. Nebraska
15. Texas
16. LSU

Notably missing from that list is perennial powerhouse USC, which leads me to believe that people hanging out in Southern California can't be bothered to come in from the beach to waste time on voting for stuff like this. Who can blame them?

So there you have it dear fans, do your part for America and vote to support whichever crooked and greedy institution of "higher learning" you want to see emblazoned on standees at Gamestops in malls across the country!
